“There’s a bit of disappointment, especially given how the lads played, but we were up against a high-quality team. We did really well in the first half and shortly after the restart, but we were careless for their equaliser and that cost us the win. Given how the match went, we’re disappointed, but it was a tidy performance. However, towards the end of the game, we perhaps lost our shape a bit. Darmian’s protests for Napoli’s goal? I’ll have to watch it back, but the referee had a good game. We’re coming off a very tough week where we’ve had to face Bologna, Atletico and Napoli, but I congratulated the boys tonight. We had a day and a half to prepare for the match, and we should also compliment Napoli. I’d also like to thank our fans for their welcome, which gave us goosebumps. We would have liked to dedicate a win to them, but there’s something to learn from every game and every week. We’ll try to improve still further. We made a few wrong decisions, but we’re constantly coming up against well-organised sides. There was also that opportunity for Barella where Juan Jesus made a fantastic intervention; had that gone in, the match would probably have been over. We analysed things for three days: you can take positives from defeats. Nevertheless, we were really disappointed because, like Atletico, we wanted to progress. They ended up winning on penalties, but you can learn something from big disappointments. I like the focus that the lads have shown. We spent three days doing analysis work but not with the smiles we’ve so often had on our faces in the past nine months. In football, there are also defeats. We’re disappointed we didn’t get a win for our fans, but we went over to salute them and I saw that they’re happy with what we’re doing on the pitch. We have nine matches left, including a game against a direct rival, and 27 points are up for grabs. There are still two months to go, and we need to work well, not give up and maintain the same concentration levels we’ve had in the past months.”
