— May 10th 2024The thoughts of the Nerazzurri Coach after the 5-0 victory away to Frosinone
A commanding victory for the Nerazzurri, who wanted to return to winning ways. A result that once again highlights the strength of this Inter side, who have scored 101 goals in all competitions this campaign. Various players starred in tonight's 5-0 victory over Frosinone, from Frattesi and Buchanan through to Arnautovic and Lautaro Martinez, and Simone Inzaghi was full of praise for them all as he spoke in his post-match interview:
“The lads were fantastic. We wanted to return to winning ways and interpreted the match in the right way, even if we could have done better out of possession on a few occasions. Nevertheless, it was an excellent performance, despite the fact that the result doesn’t reflect how the game went. We have a great rapport with the fans, to whom we dedicate all that we’ve done this season. We usually have Mkhitaryan, who works as a sort of a double midfielder with Calhanoglu. Tonight, we had Frattesi to run into space, while Barella knows how to come to meet the ball and make runs forward. He’s a very strong midfielder who has been fantastic for several seasons now. This evening, I saw a good response from everyone, but I was already aware of my players’ qualities. Arnautovic and Buchanan, for example, worked so hard in training during the week and really helped us out on the pitch. I’m just sorry that I haven’t been able to give them more playing time. I’m also happy for Sensi, who came on today and has worked hard to try and play a bit more. I hope that Frattesi can build on these numbers. He settled into the group really well after his arrival and has done what he needed to do to help us achieve our target. However, all of our midfielders have done what I’ve asked of them; I wouldn’t want to be without anybody in this group.”
“Due to his characteristics, Buchanan provides us with something different. He’s an excellent dribbler of the ball, and we have plenty of options on the right. Carlos feels at ease in defence, so I thought I’d give Bastoni and Dimarco a bit of rest. After all, they’ve played a lot and done very well this season. As for Sommer, he is a fantastic man and very important in the changing room. Lautaro is our captain and needs to carry on in the same manner. He’s helped us reach our objective with all his goals, even if he hadn’t scored in a while before tonight. In addition to his league goals, we shouldn’t forget that he bagged the winner in the Supercoppa final.”
