The thoughts of the Inter coach at the end of the derby in the Coppa Italia

Inter's Coppa Italia campaign comes to an end in the semi-final. At San Siro, the Nerazzurri started well but conceded a goal scored by Jović who doubled the lead at the start of the second half, before Reijnders sealed the win. Coach Inzaghi spoke after the match:

“I feel bad for our fans who came in their great numbers tonight, but this is football. AC Milan played very well but we have some regret following the first half: we didn't do well enough to make the most of our chances, then they scored first and we should've been more aware. In the second half, we conceded from the corner and we did less well than the first half. We're not used to losing two in a row, we need to analyse in the right way. We played well in Bologna, we didn't deserve to lose. The second goal changed the match, we had the chance with De Vrij which could've changed the game, we haven't been lucky in these matches, we should've done more. We have to move on, there's the physical and mental tiredness but we need to be stronger, we are Inter, we have decided this journey which is giving us a lot of joy and some disappointment, like tonight. We should've done better but we lacked something in the big moments. Tiredness is inevitable but it's not an excuse. We have to play big games and we needed to be better, we've had a packed schedule, we wanted to reach the final so this defeat hurts, but we should've done better to reach the final. It will be really important to pick ourselves up and start again, a mature team must react in these moments and I'm sure we will do this. We're at 24 April and we know that the final month is the most demanding and we have to go forwards with lots of confidence alongside our fans and club who are always with us. Tonight wasn't our night, we will analyse it and try to recover to win against Roma on Sunday. ”

Simone Inzaghi
