“I coach extraordinary lads. We were out on the pitch 48 hours ago and knew what this match meant for the Club. I’m happy that we managed to prepare well and win against an excellent side. We produced an aggressive and tidy performance and really wanted to achieve Champions League qualification. The lads somehow found the energy, and I’m not sure how given the lack of time we had. We almost only did video analysis, so I really do have to congratulate everyone. Who will play in the Champions League final? You can have ideas, but then everything can change. We know that we’ll be up against a really strong side, but we’ll do our best against them. We’re now missing a few players, but we hope to get them back fit. D’Ambrosio has a small problem, so we’ll have to take a look at that. The hope is we’ll have everyone fit for the final. We’ve had so many games in quick succession, and the stakes were high this evening. Together, it’s possible to do these things, to win trophies, to reach finals. There have been some difficult moments where some might have given up, but these lads came together. We’ve enjoyed three extraordinary months where we’ve reached the Champions League final, won silverware and achieved this latest objective. How am I doing? As always, I’m calm. You need to try to work and stay calm; this applies to myself and my lads. I told the boys not to listen to those who were talking about defeats but to try and win trophies and reach finals instead. The fans were magnificent, as they always are.”
