“We knew what kind of game we’d be involved in. Genoa are in good shape physically and mentally. It was a hard-fought match where both teams played fairly well in the first half. We know that Genoa are strong on set-pieces, and we should have defended better and not allowed them to get back into the game. Nevertheless, the lads put everything into it. We wanted to win, but we've finished the year in an excellent position in the table. In the second half, Acerbi had a really good chance and we conceded a few counter-attacks, but we controlled the game well. We were up against a very intense side and needed to move the ball quicker, but we struggled more than usual tonight. All in all, Genoa played well and deserved a point. We mustn’t use our injuries as an excuse following a positive run where we’ve produced some excellent performances. We need to try and build on these first 18 games, aware that our journey will be long and difficult and we’ll have to be even better. ”
