“We knew it’d be a difficult game. The lads were fantastic and held their own out on the pitch. Atalanta put pressure on us in the first 20 minutes, but then we grew into it and, after making it 2-0, were in full control before they got back into it. We came here and created a lot of opportunities against a side that hadn’t conceded any goals at home. As for the team’s character, you just need look at the first goal: the way Darmian came on following Pavard’s injury was exemplary, just like the performances of the rest of his teammates. The only sour note from the evening is Pavard’s injury. During the collision, his kneecap moved out of position slightly and then back in again. The doctors take their time when these kinds of injuries occur, but I think we might lose him for a while. Pavard celebrating with the team? As a coach, that’s great to see. Our strikers are all doing really well alongside their teammates. Arnautovic will probably be back for the next game, and we need the help of everyone up top.
