APPIANO GENTILE - It's the eve of another league match for Inter, who are set to face Roma at the Stadio Olimpico at 18:00 CEST on Saturday 6 May.
This is what Coach Simone Inzaghi had to say ahead of the matchday 34 clash:
Three consecutive wins have put you in a better position in the table, and a real six-pointer is in store tomorrow. A victory would see you move five points ahead of Roma. "We've recorded three vital back-to-back wins, but we're also aware of the importance of tomorrow's game. We'll be up against a high-quality side and need to be as well prepared as possible."
Despite all their absences, Roma are a tough side to play, as they proved in the reverse fixture. What kind of game are you expecting? "I'm expecting a game against a strong and high-quality side who have an excellent coach. We know that there will be many potential pitfalls and that it'll be a very important game for both sides in terms of the table."
All of your attackers have returned and you're finding the net again. In fact, nine of Inter's last twelve goals have been scored by the team's strikers. How important is it that the Nerazzurri have rediscovered success in front of goal? "It's very important, but, as I've said before, it was just a spell. We know that strikers can go through these spells, but I was quite confident. After all, I was watching them all work so hard every day. Now, I'm happy that we're scoring regularly again, not just the forwards but all the players."
You're not only doing well in attack again, you're also looking very solid in defence. Indeed, Inter have only conceded one goal in their last four matches across Serie A and the Coppa Italia. "It's an important fact, but credit should go to the whole team, who, as a group, don't want to concede. When you don't ship any goals, it's thanks to everyone's contribution and not just the defenders."
You've just celebrated an important milestone - 100 matches in charge - in the best way possible. What is your wish for the final stages of the season? "My wish is to have an Inter side that always tries to improve game by game. We know what our schedule has been like and what awaits us. I always want to see a lot of focus, but I'm confident because I have a united and cohesive group."
At the moment, only Gosens and Skriniar are missing. With the team almost fully fit, you've been able to rotate in certain areas, like in midfield and attack, whereas this wasn't possible before. "This is true, and Skriniar and Gosens remain out. Being able to make changes is vital for us because we're playing so many games; there's one every 72 hours. The help of the whole squad is so important."
