100 wins for Inzaghi at Inter
Team
— Apr 1st 2024In leading the Nerazzurri to victory over Empoli in his 150th match in charge, Inzaghi became the fourth coach to achieve the feat of 100 victories in charge of Inter
Simone Inzaghi didn't celebrate in front of the microphones because he'd lost his voice. Instead, his assistant, Massimiliano Farris, took over the post-match duties following Inter vs. Empoli. But it was a night where the Nerazzurri picked up another three points under Inzaghi, who achieved a couple of special statistical milestones in the process.
In leading his side to victory over Empoli - a result that restored the Nerazzurri's 14-point lead at the top - Inzaghi made it 100 wins in 150 matches in all competitions as the Inter boss.
This represents a historic feat: Inzaghi, who arrived at the Club in 2021, is just the fourth coach to achieve 100 wins at Inter since Serie A adopted a round-robin format (in 1929/30). Indeed, he's followed in the footsteps of Helenio Herrera (205), Roberto Mancini (176) and Giovanni Trapattoni (124).
As previously mentioned, the win against the Azzurri, which was secured thanks to goals from Dimarco and Sanchez, was his 150th match in charge. Only four others have reached this milestone at Inter: Helenio Herrera (368 matches), Roberto Mancini (303), Giovanni Trapattoni (233) and Eugenio Bersellini (207).

When Inter faced Genoa at the start of March, Inzaghi took charge of his 300th Serie A game. Following victory in that fixture, he became the coach with the highest number of wins after 300 matches in the Italian top flight: 179. Since his debut in the dugout in Serie A, Inzaghi has achieved the most victories among his counterparts in Italy's top division, more than 20 more than any other coach in this period.

Inter continue to show incredible consistency in terms of performances and results this season. Simone Inzaghi has become the third coach since the 1980s to lead Inter on an unbeaten run lasting at least 20 matches in Serie A; he's replicated Roberto Mancini (who achieved this feat three times) and Antonio Conte in this regard. The Nerazzurri have now gone 24 league matches without defeat.
ATTACK AND DEFENCE
Simone Inzaghi is the first coach in Nerazzurri history who has seen his side score in at least 25 consecutive Serie A matches. This run is ongoing: Inter vs. Empoli was the 38th game in a row where Inter have found the net.
Furthermore, Inter have recorded 19 shutouts in 30 matches this Serie A campaign. They've thus equalled their clean sheet record at this stage of a top-flight season (they had the same tally after 30 fixtures in 1988/89).
