— Oct 4th 2022Lautaro Martinez, Henrikh Mkhitaryan and André Onana give their opinions on this evening's crucial Champions League victory
On matchday three in Champions League Group C, Inter picked up a crucial victory thanks to a solid team performance. Here are a few thoughts from some of the stars of the evening, starting with Lautaro Martinez:
"It was a matter of life or death for us today; we needed to play well to win. We needed this and achieved it thanks to real heart and character against a high-quality side. We stuck close to them; they played their football but we caused them problems and are happy with these three points. Today, winning was what counted. We needed to work as a team, and the attackers also did their bit. We need to build on this win and work hard, but this victory will help us a lot."
Mkhitaryan provided experience and quality in midfield:
"It was a difficult match; we knew all about their qualities and gave our all. We helped each other and played as a team, picking up three important points. We fought hard and played until the end, managing to emerge victorious. After our recent games, it was important to win in order to gain confidence. We need to carry on in this manner. The key to the victory? We're Inter."
A win and a clean sheet for the Nerazzurri, with Onana putting in an attentive display between the sticks:
"It was a special evening for me. Keeping a clean sheet is really important. We played as a team and were compact, which was key. We're delighted to have picked up this result, both for ourselves and the fans. We need to carry on in this manner."
