Head Coach Simone Inzaghi's comments after Inter vs Villarreal

Inter rounded off their 2022/23 pre-season tour with a 4-2 defeat to Villarreal at the stadio Adriatico in Pescara. Lukaku and D'Ambrosio got the Nerazzurri's goals. At the end of the friendly, Head Coach Simone Inzaghi spoke to Inter TV:

"We knew it was going to be a difficult game, we did many good things. As a group defensively, we need to do better, but we knew we were coming up against a team that got to a Champions League semi-final last season. These are important games that demonstrate we still have lots of work to do. It was tough test, just like it was against Lyon, Monaco and Lens. But we chose these difficult games. We see that we're in good shape but we've more work to do".

In a week's time, there's the Serie A opener against Lecce:

"From now on, the workload lessens a little; on Saturday, we start off our league campaign and I think with the right amount of work we'll arrive in the best possible shape. We've done a lot of good work, some players arrived later, Skriniar only got going after preparations had started, and now Brozovic has a little issue but we hope he'll be fine for Saturday. Everyone's physical condition is improving. This evening, we kept the ball well in possession against a top quality side. Now, we look to Saturday because we want to hit the ground running and start off in the best possible way at Lecce".
