After triumph in in the Supercoppa, Inter have tasted defeat for the first time in 2023. At San Siro, it was Empoli who came out on top, winning 1-0 thanks to Baldanzi's goal. It's a bitter defeat for the Nerazzurri, and Hakan Calhanoglu spoke to Inter TV afterwards.
“We've lost a very important game. We came up against a good side who played really well, but obviously going down to ten men didn't help us, and we struggled from that point onwards; we found it difficult to find a goal. We're now 13 points behind the league leaders, which is a lot. I'm sorry for our supporters, they gave us an unbelievable reception as we approached the stadium before the game; they deserved to see us win tonight. Despite having a player less, even in the second half we tried to get forward and attack. Unfortunately, we weren't able to score. It's a defeat and we must now work hard to forget this game, starting from Cremonese, before an important cup game against Atalanta.”
