Audero: "Inter is a big Club. I'm very motivated"

MILANO - Emil Audero is a new Inter player. The goalkeeper was introduced in an exclusive interview with Inter TV, talking us through the emotions of his new Nerazzurro adventure. 

Welcome to Inter Emil: What does it mean to you to join this massive Club? It means a lot for me to be here because it’s a big leap in quality. I’ve joined a club that reached the Champions League Final only a few months ago. I am very happy and very motivated. To join a club of this calibre pushes me to further improve myself. 

Walter Zenga, a Nerazzurro legend, has expressed the respect he holds for you on several occasions: what effect did this have on you? Like you, he played for Inter and Sampdoria, a great example to follow. First things first, I was delighted. We’ve also spoken together. I hope to reciprocate the kind words he offered me. 

How would you describe yourself as a goalkeeper? What are your strengths? I am a modern goalkeeper. By working hard every day, I have performed at my best level, I am very professional. From a technical point of view, I would describe myself as a goalkeeper who is able to have a say in all aspects of the game. 

You’re only 26 years old but you’re already a veteran of Serie A: will Inter be a chance for you to grow even further? Yes, absolutely.  In my mind, this is an important step and I hope to follow it up. I have joined a club with players that have a wealth of quality and experience, but I am here to grow and to compare myself to the best. 

Amongst the many Italians that play for Inter, you’ll also meet Barella, Bastoni and Dimarco, who you played with for the Under 21s. I am very happy because I have a great relationship with them, we’ve known each other for many years, since the Under 15s. We have shared many experiences together and now it’s great to see them here as teammates at club level. 

You have often been the star of big performances against Inter: What are your aims now that you will play in Nerazzurro? My aims are to continue as I have done so far. I will try to play as much as possible and win as many trophies as possible.
