An evening of International action: wins for France, Argentina and Albania in friendlies against Scotland and Bulgaria, Italy beaten by England in EURO 2024 qualifier. Brazil and Chile beaten too

Yesterday evening saw the final round of international matches in the second break of 2023/23. The biggest performer of the evening was Benjamin Pavard, who bagged himself an eight-minute brace in France's friendly win against Scotland. The assists came from Griezmaan and Mbappé, who scored France's third before Coman made it 4-1 (Gilmour on the scoresheet for Scotland). Thuram also came on in the 64th minute.

Five Inter players got minutes for Italy in their penultimate game in Group C of EURO 2024 qualifying. The Azzurri took the lead through Scamacca but England turned it around thanks to a goal from Rashford and a brace from Kane. Barella, Frattesi and Acerbi all started, and the latter was replaced by Bastoni in the 63rd minute; Federico Dimarco also came on at the same time. Italy's upcoming games against North Macedonia and Ukraine are now must-win if they are hoping to qualify directly.

Asllani also started in Albania's friendly victory over Bulgaria, which was decided by Laçi and Muçi. The Nerauzzurri midfielder was taken off in the 90th minute to be replaced by Ramadani.

Three other Nerazzurri played overnight in South American qualifying for World Cup 2026.

Carlos Eduardo made his Brazil debut, starting and playing 73 minutes in a defeat to Uruguay in Montevideo. The Celeste won 2-0 to go level with Brazil on seven points.

Lautaro also played last night as he came on in the 78th minute of Argentina's 2-0 win away to Peru - Messi with a brace. The world champions are currently top of South American qualifying on 12 points with a perfect record.

Alexis Sanchez played the full 90 minutes in Chile's away defeat to Venezuela. The hosts won 3-0 to leave Chile third-bottom of the group with four points from four games.
