The 2022 World Cup in Qatar is fast approaching, and the countries who will compete have already begun their preparations. Wednesday has already seen and will see friendly fixtures take place, with various Nerazzurri players involved. Among the teams who have taken or will take to the pitch are Marcelo Brozovic's Croatia and Lautaro Martinez and Joaquin Correa's Argentina. Turkey and Italy will also play today, although neither side is heading to Qatar.
BROZOVIC PLAYS FOR CROAZIA
The first player to take to the field was Marcelo Brozovic, who played in Croatia's friendly against Saudi Arabia at the Prince Faisal bin Fahd Stadium in Riyadh. Brozovic was selected in Zlatko Dalic's starting line-up and featured for 65 minutes as Croatia won 1-0 thanks to Kramaric's finish.
CORREA ON THE MARK FOR ARGENTINA
Argentina have easily beaten the United Arab Emirates 5-0 in a World Cup warm-up game in Abu Dhabi. Scaloni decided to start Nerazzurri duo Lautaro Martinez and Joaquin Correa.
Toro Martinez didn't get on, while Correa came on at half-time and played the entire second half, scoring after 60 minutes from De Paul's assist. His goal, that made it 5-0, is his fourth for the Seleccion.
ASSIST FOR CALHANOGLU IN THE WIN OVER TURKEY
Hakan Calhanoglu's Turkey have played a friendly game against Scotland, after both sides failed to reach the World Cup in Qatar. Chosen by Head Coach Stefan Kuntz to start, Calhanoglu was captain for the evening and provided the assist for Kabak's goal that broke the deadlock. The Inter midfielder played for 68 minutes before being substituted. The game ended with Turkey winning 2-1.
ITALY WIN WITH BASTONI AND DIMARCO, ASLLANI ALSO IN ACTION
There was a win for Roberto Mancini's Italy side in the friendly against Albania played in Tirana at the Air Albania stadium. The Azzurri beat the home side 3-1 thanks to goals from Di Lorenzo and a double from Grifo. Two Nerazzurri players played the full 90 minutes: Alessandro Bastoni and Federico Dimarco. There was no run-out for Francesco Acerbi or Nicolò Barella.
Also in the game in Tirana, Kristjan Asllani got 19 minutes of action. The midfielder came on to replace Nedim Bajrami on the 71st-minute mark. This was Asllani's sixth cap for Albania.
