MILAN - NO to all forms of racial discrimination: on a day when the whole world reaffirms it with even more strength, Inter joins in this appeal, clearly reaffirming the strength of values such as respect, union and being a family against all forms of racism.
On the occasion of the World Day of the Elimination of Racial Discrimination, a representation of players from the Nerazzurri's Youth Sector together with a group of club employees and a delegation of youngsters linked to the Junior Tim Cup project - part of Lega Serie A's Keep Racism Out initiative with TIM and in collaboration with CSI - went to the Shoah Memorial in Milan, a symbolic place - next to the Central Station - from where the trains of deportation to the concentration and extermination camps departed, which today has become a place of reflection, with the aim of turning indifference into making a difference.
After the museum visit, all present watched a documentary on Árpád Weisz, which offered further reflection on the issues of discrimination, inequality and racially motivated persecution.
In fact, Inter has in its history one of the clearest examples of the injustice and madness of racial discrimination: Árpád Weisz, a Jew, Hungarian by birth, who at the helm of Inter won the Scudetto in the 1929/1930 season and launched the very young Giuseppe Meazza into Serie A, is also the testimony of a man who could not escape the madness of the Nazi concentration and extermination camps.
Reliving his story, keeping his memory alive with the connection to such a symbolic place as the Shoah Memorial in Milan, once again profoundly reaffirms the NO to all forms of discrimination consistently and wholeheartedly supported by the Nerazzurri Club.
Together with the young Nerazzurri athletes and the Milanese oratories, a delegation of staff from ECA member teams also took part in this training event. The visit is part of the ECA Academy Visits programme, which provides periodic meetings for the exchange of know-how and training for technical staff from the youth sectors. The delegation is also scheduled to visit InterHQ and the Konami Youth Development Centre facilities.
