— Jun 7th 2024The Nerazzurri took part in the tournament with a team made up of Inter Legends, Inter Academy, Inter Club and Inter Campus, as well as international talent and content creators linked to the Club.
Inter's adventure in The Soccer Tournament (TST) has come to an end. The Nerazzurri ended the tournament with zero points after the matches against La Bombonera, Gracie F.C. and Banheiristas F.C.. However, the Nerazzurri team did well by always fighting up to the target times in their tournament three matches played in Cary, North Carolina. In addition to the football played, Inter also featured in a series of activities aimed at increasing brand awareness in the United States, broadening its presence with Inter-related fan engagement activities.
NERAZZURRI ACTIVITIES
On Thursday 6 June, the Nerazzurri were involved in various activities to continue the work of engaging with the local fan base in the most important events in the area. Marco Materazzi, Nerazzurri legend, featured in a special meet & greet with some fans. The former Nerazzurri defender then took part in a growing up that also saw Tommaso Berni and Jelani involved. There was a great crowd and passion for Borja Valero and Karagounis also, who were together with the Nerazzurri supporters for a meet & greet. During the day, an illustrious visitor came to greet the Nerazzurri: NBA champion, Chris Paul. The American champion is one of the owners of the association that organised the event.
THE ARRIVAL
On Wednesday, the squad met up in Cary with the various representatives from all over the world. The Nerazzurri took part in photos before heading out for the first training session.
INTER 4-6 LA BOMBONERA
The first game ended in a 4-6 defeat for Inter on Thursday at 14:45 CEST against La Bombonera. It was a bitter result for the Nerazzurri who put in a good performance until the very end, looking to get back level. The game was hard-fought in the first half with the first 45 minutes ending with a 3-2 lead for the opposition despite a splendid free-kick goal from Marco Materazzi and one for Di Felipe. Many chances for both sides in the second half but La Bombonera managed to make it 5-3. According to the rules of the tournament, the winning side has to score 6 goals, so 3 minutes of extra time were played with Inter scoring through Rodrigo before we conceded the sixth.
INTER 4-7 GRACIE F.C.
In the second match of Group D, another defeat came for the Nerazzurri: Gracie F.C. won 7-4. Inter started badly and in the first half their opponents took a 4-1 lead; Felipe with the Nerazzurri's goal. The second half was a completely different story with the Inter team reacting by scoring through Felipe again, as well as Borja Valero and Materazzi, but they were unable to stop the competitive nature of Gracie F.C., who stayed 6-4. According to the tournament formula, the target score is staged with the two teams playing 4 against 4. The match ended with the opponents' seventh goal.
INTER 5-6 BANHEIRISTAS F.C.
Inter's journey in the TST ends. In the last match of Group D, the Nerazzurri played an excellent match, suffering a sucker punch right at the end. The first half ended 3-3. In the second half, Inter dominated and took a 5-3 lead. In extra time Banheiristas F.C. turned things around and also found the winning sixth goal which, as per the regulations, signalled the end of the match. The Nerazzurri goals were scored by Rodri, scorer of a brace, Maurizio, Felipe and Kraft.
On the evening of 5 June, the Nerazzurri will face Gracie F.C. at 23:00 CEST on matchday 2 of Group D. The Inter squad is made up of Inter Legends – including Marco Materazzi, Tommaso Berni, Borja Valero, Giorgos Karagounis and Francesco Colonnese - who have been joined by players from the Inter Academy, Inter Club and Inter Campus, as well as international talents and content creators linked to the Club.
