Victory, goals and a performance: Inter put in an outstanding display against Salernitana on a great evening in front of 72,000 fans in attendance at San Siro, maintaining their lead at the top of the table. The win over the Granata is backed up by the statistics and the extraordinary numbers recorded by the Nerazzurri.
HIGH RHYTHM
After 24 league games played, the Nerazzurri find themselves top of the table. Simone Inzaghi's side's figures are more than positive: Inter have won 20 times this season; only in the 2006/07 season have they managed to do better (21 wins). Furthermore, it is only the second time the Nerazzurri have collected at least 63 points at this stage of the season: in the 2006/07 season, they had 66, a record in the three-points-for-a-win era. In addition, Inter can boast a goal difference of +47, the result of scoring 59 goals and conceding just twelve: it is the fifth best ever at this stage in the history of Serie A.
EL TORO ALWAYS GETTING STRONGER
Lautaro Martínez is the third player to score at least 20 goals for three seasons in a row in Serie A with Inter, after Giuseppe Meazza (five - from 1929/30 to 1933/34) and Istvan Nyers (four - from 1948/49 to 1951/52). El Toro has now moved ahead of Mauro Icardi, and with 125 goals has become the eighth-highest goalscorer in the Club's history, as well as the second player in the last 60 years to score at least 20 goals after 23 games for the Nerazzurri in a single Serie A season, after Christian Vieri in the 2002/03 season (21 for him).
THURAM WITH TOP MARKS
With his goal that broke the deadlock in the match against Salernitana, Marcus Thuram now has ten goals to his name in 24 league appearances. The striker has become only the second Frenchman to reach goalscoring double figures for Inter in Serie A after Youri Djorkaeff (14 goals in 33 matches in the 1996/97 season). Tikus has also become the third French player to reach goalscoring double figures in his first 24 Serie A appearances in the three-points-for-a-win era, after Youri Djorkaeff and David Trezeguet.
FLYING WIDEMEN
Before Carlos Augusto, the last Inter defender to provide two assists in a single Serie A fixture was Yuto Nagatomo on 21 December 2011: the Brazilian proved decisive for the first two goals of the match, scored by Thuram and Lautaro. Furthermore, since the start of the 2022/23 campaign only Federico Dimarco (15) has been involved in more goals than Carlos Augusto (14 - six goals and eight assists) out of defenders in Serie A. The widemen's performances were vital against Salernitana: Denzel Dumfries scored the third goal of the game. The Dutchman has scored nine goals and provided eleven assists in his last three Serie A seasons: Dumfries is the second defender to have been involved in at least 20 goals in this period of time, after Theo Hernandez (24).
