— Jul 21st 2023Complete domination at the Suning Training Centre as Lautaro bags four
Nerazzurri dominance. In their second preseason friendly, Inter ran out 10-0 winners over Serie C side Pergolettese. At Appiano Gentile, Coach Inzaghi sent out two different teams in each half. The Nerazzurri went into the break four to the good and then added a further six goals after the restart, with Lautaro bagging four.
The team's second friendly saw new signing Thuram make his full debut next to Correa in attack. The team's midfield initially consisted of Sensi, Barella and Calhanoglu, with Dumfries and Gosens lining up out wide. In front of Stankovic in goal was a three-man defence made up of De Vrij, Bastoni and Bisseck.
Inter's approach was positive as they dictated the pace of the game. Gosens had the first two attempts at goal in the opening three minutes, after which Sensi combined with Thuram and let fly, only to be denied by Soncin. In the 13th minute, Thuram threatened from Bisseck's cross, but the Pergolettese defence did enough to put him off. A few seconds later, Calhanoglu had a go from distance, but the opposition goalkeeper was equal to it. However, he could do nothing in the 19th minute as Bastoni flicked on a corner and Correa nodded into the net. 1-0 to Inter.
After scoring the opener, the Nerazzurri's domination only intensified. Three minutes later, Bastoni headed home another corner to make it 2-0. In the 31st minute, Calhanoglu took aim and picked out the bottom corner with a fine strike. Just before half-time, Dumfries met Gosens' cross from the left and added a fourth with his head.
Inter took to the pitch with a completely different side after the restart. Lautaro was thwarted by Soncin, but, with the game having slowed down somewhat in the opening stages of the second half, the Argentine then got on the scoresheet following some indecisive defending. The Nerazzurri, in complete control of possession, then stepped things up again, with plenty of chances coming their way. With 75 minutes on the clock, Esposito produced an excellent header from Dimarco's corner for Inter's sixth, while Lautaro then converted from the penalty spot a minute later.
In the final ten minutes, a further three goals were scored. First, Mkhitaryan stroked into the net from the edge of the box, with Lautaro then tapping home yet another Dimarco cross to complete his hat-trick. Seconds before the final whistle, the Nerazzurri No.10 scored another spot-kick to make it 10-0.
