At the Orogel Stadium in Cesena, Inter drew their fourth pre-season game 2-2, displaying great character and physical intensity and playing some nice football in the process. Having fallen two behind following goals from Lacazette and Cherki, Inzaghi's side responded with second-half efforts from Lukaku and Barella.
HOW THINGS UNFOLDED: Inter took to the pitch with Onana in goal, Barella, Brozovic and Calhanoglu in midfield and Lukaku and Lautaro up front. It was an intense, physical and hard-fought first half, with Inter starting to gain the upper hand midway through it. The Nerazzurri’s best chances in the opening stages fell to Lukaku, who headed into the goalkeeper’s arms, and Dimarco, who fired wide with his left foot from a great position. However, it was Lyon who opened the scoring through Lacazette, who successfully got on the end of Paqueta’s cross. With the same Inter eleven having come out for the second half, the Nerazzurri went 2-0 down as substitute Cherki found the net for the French side. Inzaghi’s men responded immediately as Lukaku headed home Dimarco’s ball in to reduce the arrears. The Belgian had roused the crowd, and Inter then grabbed an equaliser in the 65th minute following a wonderful move that started with Dumfries. The Dutchman found Lautaro, who played in Barella with a wonderful pass with the outside of his boot, and the Italian then beautifully lifted the ball over Lopes to draw the Nerazzurri level.
