From the Cook Islands to San Siro: Jacopo's story

— Nov 27th 2024More than 17,000 km to watch the Nerazzurri take on Leipzig in the Champions League
17,138 km: that's the enormous distance separating Rarotonga, an island in the Cook Islands, from San Siro. The Cook Islands consist of 15 islands located in the South Pacific Ocean. If you want to reach this remote archipelago full of beauty from Milano, it will take you almost 30 hours.
Having left Italy and completely changed his life, here is where Jacopo lives. But one thing hasn't changed despite the distance: his love for Inter.
With Inter facing Leipzig in the Champions League, Jacopo made the long trip to Milano to return to a special place - San Siro - and watch his beloved team together with his father, Daniele.
An incredible story involving more than 17,000 km. A story of pure, eternal love.
“I live in Rarotonga, in the Cook Islands: in order to reach Milano, a 27-hour journey with two layovers is required. I last came to San Siro in 2017, when I watched Inter draw 1-1 with Lazio. Every time I come back, it’s like diving back into the past. I used to go to the stadium with my friends, and I lived in this area. I have so many memories. The Cook Islands are twelve hours behind, but I follow Inter on the radio in the office while organising tours for tourists. And then I have my dad, who gives me updates when I can’t follow. In Rarotonga, I'm a volunteer firefighter, and sometimes we take part in physical challenges. I always participate wearing my Materazzi shirt.”
