RIYADH – Inter produced a fantastic performance to beat Lazio 3-0 in Riyadh and progress to the Supercoppa Italiana final, where they’ll once again take to the pitch at Alawwal Park but this time to face Napoli. Inzaghi’s side put on a real show against the Biancocelesti, dominating proceedings throughout. In fact, the Nerazzurri could have scored many more than the three they did.
In total, Inzaghi’s side, who hit the bar twice, had 23 shots compared to Lazio’s five. Inter were dominant from the get-go as they laid siege on Provedel’s goal. The Nerazzurri deservedly opened the scoring in the 17th minute: Dimarco flicked on a low Bastoni cross with his heel and Thuram was left with a simple tap-in.
Barella hit the bar and Inter had an avalanche of chances during the opening 45, but the Nerazzurri only took a 1-0 lead into the break. The second half kicked off and the match continued in the same vein, with Calhanoglu converting from the penalty spot after 50 minutes following a foul by Pedro on Lautaro. Shortly afterwards, El Toro became the second Inter player to hit the woodwork as the one-way traffic continued.
Inter’s third finally arrived in the closing stages: Frattesi, who had entered the fray in the second half, finished off Mkhitaryan’s assist on the counter with 87 minutes on the clock. It crowned a magnificent night for Inter, who will now take on Napoli in the Supercoppa Italiana final on Monday.
