Inter won 6-1 against Maltese outfit Gzira United in their first friendly of the mid-season break. Six different goalscorers got on the scoresheet.

The Nerazzurri used the first ten minutes to get themselves into a good rhythm. Calhanoglu created the first chance of the game 15 minutes in. The Turkish international fed Gosens in the box with a brilliant ball in but the German couldn't quite get enough on the ball. It didn't take Inter long to score though. In the 16th minute, Bastoni popped up on the left-hand side and crossed in towards Bellanova, who stooped low and headed home. Asllani made it two in the 25th minute; his shot from a distance caught the Gzira keeper off guard. A few minutes later, Jefferson pulled one back for our Maltese opponents with a tap-in. But Inter made it 4-1 in double-quick time. First, Calhanoglu scored a trademark free-kick from around 25 metres out, then Gosens got on the end of Bastoni's delivery and made no mistakes this time.

Head coach Simone Inzaghi made a raft of changes to start the second half and the game dropped in intensity. Very little happened in the first 20 minutes of the second half. Inter controlled possession and then kicked back into life in the 69th minute when Dimarco turned home from a brilliant Mkhitaryan assist. Both teams created very little in the final ten minutes before Mkhitaryan scored at the death. Dimarco returned the favour and assisted the Armenian. That was the final flash of action and the game finished 6-1 to the Nerazzurri.
