— Apr 1st 2024An important home victory for the Nerazzurri, who are 14 points clear at the top with eight matches remaining
Non-stop singing in the stands and a crucial Inter victory! Tonight, the Nerazzurri ran out 2-0 winners over Empoli thanks to goals from Federico Dimarco and Alexis Sanchez. It means that Inzaghi’s men have added a further three points to their tally and hold a 14-point advantage over second-place AC Milan with eight matches remaining.
After the international break, Inter have resumed their march at the top of the table, with the Nerazzurri still unbeaten in the league in 2024. The team made a fantastic start, taking the lead after just five minutes: Bastoni provided his third consecutive Serie A assist, setting up Dimarco for a sweet left-footed volley into the bottom corner.
However, Empoli never gave up: Audero was produced a fine save to keep out a long-range effort from Marin, and, in general, the match remained in the balance. Caprile stood in Inter’s way on several occasions, while Bastoni was denied by the post. The pace of the match dropped somewhat in the second half, and it took until the 81st minute for the Nerazzurri to put it to bed. They did so through two substitutes as Dumfries rolled it across for Alexis to tap home. 2-0 and a big three points!
