— Dec 20th 2023Bologna turn things around in extra time to progress to the quarter-finals
Inter were eliminated from the Coppa Italia after a 2-1 extra-time defeat to Bologna at San Siro. It means the Nerazzurri can no longer defend the title they won in 2022 and 2023. Inzaghi’s side had numerous opportunities, including a Lautaro penalty that was saved by Ravaglia in the 65th minute.
However, Inter were unable to find the net, meaning extra time was required following a 0-0 draw after 90 minutes. The match kicked off again and the Nerazzurri immediately took the lead, with Carlos Augusto heading home a Dimarco corner to score his first Inter goal. However, it wasn’t enough to send Inzaghi’s men to the quarter-finals. Indeed, Bologna scored twice in the second half of extra time, first through Beukema, who netted from a corner (112’), and then through Ndoye, who dinked the ball over the outrushing Audero (116). It finished 2-1 to the visitors, leaving Inter out of the competition.
