Inter 1 - 0 Benfica
Team
— Oct 3rd 2023The Nerazzurri beat the Portuguese side thanks to Thuram's finish
Marcus Thuram’s roar of delight. A goal that came about thanks to sheer determination, and it proved to be the winner. Inter emerged victorious against Benfica on matchday two in Champions League Group D and, in doing so, moved up to four points, level with Real Sociedad at the top.
Roared on by their fans, Inzaghi’s men produced an incredible second-half performance and certainly deserved to score more than one goal on a brilliant evening. The Nerazzurri hit the post and the bar through Lautaro and were thwarted by Trubin on numerous occasions. Inter chased and harried in a proud display where they displayed technical and mental strength in abundance. The group had to dig in a bit at the end, but there was no getting past Sommer and his teammates. Victory for us.
