Players' reactions following the defeat at San Siro

Following this evening’s 2-0 home defeat to Bayern Munich, Danilo D'Ambrosio, who captained the side at San Siro, had the following to say:

"We knew that it’d be a difficult match. Bayern are perhaps among the top three candidates to win the competition. We had our chances and tried to cause them problems but weren’t able to score. Then, when a team like Bayern have half a chance, they punish you. Through hard work, you can achieve anything. Obsession trumps talent, you need to be obsessed. We won’t give up, we’re not accustomed to giving up and want to do everything to achieve our objectives. We’ll analyse this game, too."

Edin Dzeko also had his say, talking to Inter TV about the game against Bayern and the upcoming clash against Torino:

"It was a difficult match, but we were expecting it to be. We knew that Bayern were one of the strongest teams in the Champions League, and they proved that today. We had our chances and could have scored and changed the game, but unfortunately we weren't able to do so. In the opening period, our final pass was missing somewhat. Then, at the start of the second half, we had a few opportunities but couldn't find the net. It's still the start of the season, and we need to immediately put this defeat behind us and focus on Torino."

André Onana made his Nerazzurri debut, producing a solid performance that contained many saves. However, he was disappointed with the defeat:

"It was a difficult game against a great side. We did what we could, but we weren't able to score. We knew that it'd be a complicated match, but, game by game, we're sure that we'll improve.

"You're always happy when you make your debut, but starting with a defeat is never nice. We've now suffered two successive defeats and need to respond and focus on the match against Torino. It'll be another complicated game. We need to give everything out on the pitch and do what we try out in training in order to get back to winning ways."

These were Robin Gosens' words to Inter TV:

"Our approach to the second half was good. If we had scored, it would have changed the game. We need to take better care of the details in order to do well in the return fixture. In the Champions League, the details make the difference. We need to pay attention to everything and make the most of our opportunities. We need to score goals, carry on with the same determination and believe because we're a great team. We need to display this out on the pitch every single game, and I'm sure that we'll go far if we do. I expect a difficult match against Torino. We need to really prepare for it and keep showing that desire because, in the second half, we demonstrated that we can compete against a great team. We have to maintain that tempo in the league, too."
