A new Inter Academy is inaugurated in South America with Vice President Javier Zanetti and former Nerazzurri player Ivan Zamorano in attendance

SANTIAGO – Inter have furthered their brand expansion in South America with the launch of Inter Academy Chile, a country with a large Nerazzurri fanbase and over three million people interested in Inter.

The launch event was attended by Vice President Javier Zanetti and former Nerazzurri striker and Inter Academy Chile Ambassador Ivan Zamorano. Together the pair inaugurated the project and ran a special training session for 200 local boys and girls. Zanetti and Zamorano then met with the media and attended a cocktail gala with key players from local educational institutions. Also attending the launch were Inter fans from Inter Club Chile.

Inter Academy Chile will be run from two local centres: Ciudad Universitaria y del Deporte of San Sebastian University, one of Chile’s leading higher education structures, which places emphasis on the value of the learning process in line with the Inter Academy philosophy, and Club LAF (Club Liga Amigos del Futbol / Friends of Football League), a sports club with a long history and a state-of-the-art sports centre, which is the official headquarters of Inter Academy in Chile.

“We are delighted to be here in Chile to launch a new Inter Academy in a country with a long footballing tradition and a great love for Inter. This new initiative shares Inter’s belief in training new generations and offers Chilean boys and girls the chance to develop and wear the Inter jersey while staying in their own country.”

Javier Zanetti, Vice President di FC Internazionale Milano

“I’m very happy to see the birth of this new Inter Academy in Chile. I share strong ties with the Nerazzurri and I’m happy to be an ambassador for the project in my country and to help develop our young footballers on a sporting and human level. The project will be based at Club Liga del Futbol, with its eight-hectare facility in the heart of Penalolen, and Ciudad Universitaria y del Deporte of USS, one of our country’s biggest private universities with a top-level sports club of its own. We already have over 200 children enrolled and we hope to add further schools in the metropolitan area of Santiago soon.”

Today’s project launch in Santiago means Inter Academy is now present in 14 countries, bearing witness to the club’s widespread commercial expansion throughout the world and the increasing importance of the Inter brand on a global level.
