A 1-1 draw in Genoa. On matchday 18 in Serie A, Simone Inzaghi’s side were held by the Rossoblù after a complicated and tense match that was temporarily halted in the first half due to poor visibility from smoke. Inter took the lead in the 42nd minute through Marko Arnautovic: after a Barella effort had been deflected onto the post, the Austrian tapped into the net to score his first Serie A goal in Nerazzurri colours. Seven minutes into first-half stoppage time, the hosts equalised thanks to a Dragusin header from a corner.
After the restart, there was a lack of free-flowing football, with chances few and far between and plenty of battles in the middle of the park. Entertainment was at a premium and neither side gained any sort of attacking momentum. It thus remained 1-1 right until the 99th minute, when the final whistle was blown to bring Inter’s year to an end. The Nerazzurri will return to action in the new year on 6 January 2024.
