MILAN - Inter beat Sassuolo 4-2 in the match at San Siro which was matchday 35 of Serie A. A great performance by Lukaku who scored a brace. Inter assistant coach Massimiliano Farris commented on the match:
"Sassuolo are a strong team. We were also lucky in some moments and then we settled in because at 3-0 up there shouldn't have been this drop, but I think we had a physical and mental drop. Putting a cushion was important for the last few weeks as we will have very important games, being able to have a small margin was fundamental. The message as soon as the Champions League game was over was the same, then today we did well to bring the game home".
"We talk to each other every day, we work together seven days a week, we went through difficult moments, the work is that of the whole staff, we spend hours locked in the office, Simone in many situations gave us enthusiasm not to give up, but we all helped each other. Like after the Champions League defeat against Bayern when everyone already thought we were doomed. At that point Simone said, 'OK, we can do it against Barcelona, let's try. And from Barcelona the European race began".
"The locker room is so united and we've become very close, even during training we were pulling each other together. The team started again with a great mental volition and then the results of course help with this."
"Lukaku? He's a great guy. He has heart, sympathy, empathy, in the first part of the season we missed him a lot, I think we are seeing the real Romelu at the moment, you see how much of a factor he is in so many games."
"The selections? They are great choices, which everyone would like to have, coaches and teammates themselves. We missed important players for the rotations, like Brozovic, we miss Skriniar, we have a brilliant Darmian."
"On the derby? I think we'll prepare the match as we did in the first leg, aware that we have an advantage, but football is strange and we can't get distracted. We start from a good situation, but we have to be ready and compact and have all players available."
