The 26-year-old goalkeeper joins the Nerazzurri on loan with the option to buy

Two cultures, two souls, two worlds that meet: the calm serenity of the Indonesian sea combined with the resistance and strength of the Piedmont mountains. They are traits that Inter’s new goalkeeper, Emil Audero Mulyadi, has possessed since childhood.

Born on 18 January 1997 in Mataram, on the island of Lombok, he has an Indonesian father and an Italian mother. Emil grew up in Cumiana, in the province of Turin, and it was here where he kicked his first ball, and developed his love for the game. Starting off at Cumiana Calcio, Audero initially was an outfield player and only wore the gloves for the first time some years later, before then joining former goalkeeper Marco Roccati’s Academy.

At eleven years old, he was spotted by Juventus scouts and entered the Bianconeri’s Youth sector, making his way through every age group before eventually reaching the First Team. With a will to learn and improve, Audero made his professional debut in Serie A against Bologna on 27 May 2017.

The 2017/18 season saw another step in his career, moving to Venezia in Serie B, where he proved to be one of the best keepers on show. It was an excellent year for Emil, receiving trust from Head Coach Filippo Inzaghi and finishing the season at the second playoff round stage.

At 21, Audero was then ready for Serie A: Emil joined Sampdoria in 2018 and became a mainstay in a short space of time. In his opening nine league games for the Blucerchiati, he conceded just four goals, setting a new Club record.

In his three seasons there, he only missed five league games and went into Blucerchiati history in the 2021/22 season with a 96th-minute penalty save from Criscito in the 1-0 derby win over Genoa, which sealed the team’s safety from relegation.

Calmness, mental strength and awareness of his abilities: these are the main characteristics a keeper must possess according to Audero. They are qualities that represent Emil’s style of play, who is ready to face this new adventure wearing the Inter jersey.
