The International Day of Sport for Development and Peace, proclaimed by the United Nations General Assembly as a recognition of the positive contribution that sport can make to the achievement of sustainable development and the advancement of human rights, is being celebrated all over the world today.
Every day, and even more so on this important day, Inter reaffirms its commitment to the promotion of sport as an instrument of peace, social integration, development and as a bond between peoples.
The Club is committed on a daily basis through the activities of Inter Campus, which for 26 years has been promoting education and the right to play in 30 countries all over the world, involving more than 8000 children, and promoting various Corporate Social Responsibility projects that envisage alliances with local social organisations in support of social inclusion.
To celebrate the International Day of Sport for Development and Peace, on the morning of Saturday 1 April, Inter organised We Are Sport, a day dedicated to affirming the power of sport to change the world, strengthen social ties and personal growth, through discipline, respect and solidarity for all.
The first part of the initiative took place at the KONAMI Youth Development Centre in Memory of Giacinto Facchetti and involved athletes with different disabilities, all united by their passion for football: the boys from Asd Sporting 4E, some athletes from the BebeVio Academy and young para-footballers from various other local realities had the opportunity to enjoy themselves together with some of the boys from the Nerazzurri Youth Sector. Finally, before the kick-off of Inter vs. Fiorentina at San Siro, two boys in wheelchairs, present at the morning training session, were able to accompany the players to the centre circle for the first time.
