Darmian: "Proud to be renewing and to wear this shirt"

Inter and Matteo Darmian together until 2025. The Nerazzurro defender spoke to Inter TV after his contract extension:

Mutual faith between you and Inter, which is continuing now. What does it mean to you to be continuing on this journey with the Club?

"It means a lot. I'm really proud to be renewing and to wear this shirt for more years to come. I'm very happy to have the confidence of the staff, my teammates and the fans."

At Inter you're having a bit of a Renaissance, which has won back a spot for you with Italy. Was there a specific moment, in which you realised that your career had reached a new height?

"I've always been convinced of my ability and I've always tried to give my all, right from the outset. I'm proud to see that these sacrifices have been repaid."

Since your arrival, you've earned an increasingly integral role and have become a key member of the squad. Give us three words to describe Inter's Darmian.

"Dependable, hardworking and alert."

Here are three words that I'd use: consistency, readiness and humility. Do these traits make you an example for the younger players?

"Yes, I try to set an example, mostly for me because I try to improve day by day, and then I hope that this can be an example for the youngsters."

What have Inter given you in these last three years, what have you given to Inter and what do you think you still have to give?

"This Club's given me so much. It's allowed me to win and hope to win more in the future. As I said before, it's important to have the right determination and hunger to push yourself to go even further."

The fans adore you; when you play, they feel safe. Is there something that you want to say to them today?

"I want to thank them because they've always supported me, both me and the team. They make their support known in each game. We try to thank them with good performances."
