A high-quality performance where he put in a real shift and scored the winning goal. Matteo Darmian's finish against Atalanta was enough for Inter to progress to the Coppa Italia semi-finals. This is what the Italian had to say after the game:
“I enjoy being part of this group and team. I can feel the confidence of everyone, and I think this is vital. I always try to be ready. The derby? It’s always a special match. We’ll enjoy a victory that has secured our place in the semi-finals, but, from tomorrow, we’ll start focusing on the match against AC Milan. The most difficult matches for players are also the easiest to prepare for because, beyond tactical aspects, motivation is key. In this respect, we’re currently doing very well. We need to be more consistent; we’re a little bit behind in the league. Nevertheless, there’s still time and we’re still in every competition. We’ll give everything from now until the end of the season to achieve all our aims.”

“We produced a good performance against a tough team who are in good form. On a personal level, it was important to play well. I wanted to repay the Coach’s trust in me and I’m happy. I give everything in every training session, and this is important to me. I can’t wait for the derby. For us, the fans and the Club, it’s always very special. Today, it was important to make it to the semi-finals in order to head into the game against AC Milan with maximum confidence. We’ll get down to work this week so we’re ready for Sunday.”
