The passion of Inter fans knows no bounds, reaching all the way to London. From the very start, our travelling support at Chelsea’s stadium made their devotion to Inter clear. Simone Inzaghi's team continued to be in perfect sync with its fans this season, rewarding them with a solid performance. The match ended 1-1 between Chelsea and Inter in the final friendly before the Serie A 2024/25 season kicks off.
The atmosphere was electric, with a packed Stamford Bridge eagerly anticipating the excitement of a mouthwatering clash with an international flavour. The Nerazzurri struggled early on, trying to keep the game’s tempo down. Chelsea started the stronger side, creating a good opportunity in the ninth minute. However, Sommer was quick to respond, making a crucial save. Inter’s first real chance came after fifteen minutes when Dimarco combined with Thuram and delivered a cross from the byline, but his effort hit the side-netting.
As the second half progressed, Inter grew into the game, displaying their usual compactness and effectiveness on the counterattack. It was from a counter that Thuram scored the opener. Bisseck set up the play from midfield, passing to Correa, who then found Thuram. With a precise diagonal shot, Thuram broke the deadlock, perfectly showcasing the team’s style. Before the break, Dimarco's weak header failed to test Sanchez. Chelsea, however, almost levelled the score with Guiu’s close-range shot, which was superbly saved by Sommer.
The second half saw Inter become even more organised, effectively managing the game. Five minutes in, Dimarco almost made it 2-0 with a powerful left-footed strike, but Sanchez produced an excellent save. Chelsea, spurred on by their fans, pressed forward and in the 54th minute, Nkunku came close with an impressive overhead kick, again denied by the brilliant Sommer. Chelsea hit the post soon after with a Colwill effort. The game then saw both teams struggle to find their rhythm in the final third. Palmer and Mkhitaryan both had attempts but missed the target. Despite a solid defensive display, Inter could not prevent the equaliser in the 89th minute when Ugochukwu capitalised on a rebound, scoring with a powerful shot from close range.
