LISBON - On the eve of Benfica vs. Inter, matchday 5 in Group D of the UEFA Champions League, Nerazzurri winger Carlos Augusto spoke together with coach Simone Inzaghi in a press conference:
Can you tell us how these first few months have gone at Inter? How is the relationship with Dimarco, who plays in the same role as you? "It's been fantastic, it was a personal goal of mine. I feel good with the coach, the staff and the whole group, which was important for my inclusion. Dimarco is part of this group, I have no problem that he is in the same role: I get along with everyone and I want to help this group."
How were the first call-ups to the national team? How much more can you grow? "For me it was a dream, I wanted to play for Brazil. I hope to continue playing for the national team, but I have to prove every day that I deserve it with my work. I know that I have a lot of potential, I can still improve: I hope to help the team, the staff and Inter as much as possible."
Do you think Benfica will suit your characteristics? "We can't choose our opponents, but we know that Benfica play good football. We have a lot of agmes back-to-back, but we have worked well and regardless of who plays, we are Inter and we must always look to win."
Do you have a plan to face an opponent like Di Maria? "We played against each other last week in the national team and also last year with Juventus. Di Maria is a player who makes the difference, the secret will be to always stay focused to play him."
What kind of game are you expecting? "We don't have to look at the table: this is the Champions League and every match is important. Benfica are very strong and play at home: we will need concentration because they are an excellent team, but we have to think about playing our game."
How important is it for Inter to win this match? "Inter always plays to win, the table doesn't matter: we always want to get top. Tomorrow won't be easy, but we'll do our best to win, regardless of who plays."
Besides Di Maria, who are the other Benfica players to keep an eye out for? "Di Maria is undoubtedly an important player, he has made football history, but there's not only him. Benfica have many players at an international level who know how to play with the ball, like Otamendi. We have to be ready to face them, because It's a team that dominates possession of the ball and plays very well."
