UCL, Calhanoglu: "Quarter - finals our target: we'll need a lot of heart"

PORTO - The Champions League Round of 16 second leg between Porto and Inter is drawing ever nearer. On the eve of the game at stadio do Dragão, Hakan Calhanoglu, along with Coach Inzaghi, spoke to the press:

How can you explain the last few results, especially away from home? "These games are now the past, we're not talking about them now because our run in the Champions has been really positive and we've played really well against some really strong sides. We're only focusing on tomorrow, we want to go through to the quarters and this is our target. The rest is behind us now and we're not even thinking about it." It'll be a game where cool heads and strong hearts are needed: how important will the togetherness of the squad be? "A lot, not only for us and the Head Coach, but the whole Club. We know it's going to be a tough game, i know the atmosphere at this stadium because I played here. me and my teammates are excited, they all look ready. We'll need a lot of heart tomorrow, and will have to give all that we've got until the final whistle. They'll also be ready to provoke us, and I say that with a ll the respect in the world, but we're ready for it."

Your agent said you have the same body language as Pirlo: is that who you model yourself on in this role? "This is difficult to explain. I like Pirlo a lot, and he is my idol, but I don't like speaking about myself. I continue to work hard and watch others in order to learn and do better than I am doing today." Have you said as a group in the dressing room that you can't make any more mistakes? "When we fall, we pull ourselves back up; we've always responded in this way. We always remain together in good and bad, this goes for everyone. We've prepared for the game well: in football you can't always be at your best, but we always need to be ready to go out and perform".
