All Action Hero: Lautaro Martinez's season

Lautaro Martinez was one of Inter's most influential players during the 2022/23 season. A leader within the Nerazzurri squad, El Toro experienced his best year on the goalscoring front since arriving in Italy, bagging 28 times in all competitions. In Serie A, the Argentine finished as the second-highest scorer behind Osimhen, but his goals contributed 15 points to Inter's league tally. He found the net on 21 occasions in the Italian top flight and also provided six assists, plus four more in the other competitions Inter were involved in for a total of ten. This represents another record for an incredibly decisive figure.

Included in Opta's Top 11 from the 2022/23 Serie A season, El Toro was the only man to feature in all 57 of the Nerazzurri's matches during the campaign just gone. An incredible feat, also considering that he was involved in the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, a tournament won by his Argentina. It was an extraordinary achievement and the first triumph of a memorable season for Lautaro, who played a key role in the two trophies that the Nerazzurri got their hands on.

El Toro scored a magnificent goal in the Supercoppa Italiana final against AC Milan in Riyadh. He was then named as the MVP in the Coppa Italia final against Fiorentina after bagging a decisive brace. It was a match that saw him reach and then pass the milestone of 100 goals in an Inter shirt. Lautaro also made a vital contribution to the Nerazzurri's European run: for the Inter fans, his finish against Barcelona at Camp Nou and especially his goal in the semi-final second leg against AC Milan will remain unforgettable.
