Mazzola turns 81: “Inter, a never - ending passion”

“That final in Prater in Vienna was a dream for me. We won 3-1 and I scored a brace at 22 years old which won the Cup. That Real Madrid team were really strong and could beat any team. I have a memory that I like to recall from before kick-off: we went to the centre circle and their captain came to greet me, it was really exciting. Then when I saw the first goal hit the back of the net, it was an incredible feeling. ”

“In current football, I would definitely play as a second striker because I used to play behind the striker with the number 8 and then the 10. My dad played with the same number and this excited me. My favourite memories from my years at Inter were the cups that we won because it thrilled me to see the crowd in ecstasy. My first goal in the Derby was also great. I scored after a few seconds and inside, I wanted to go home because I had scored at Milan and it was really important for our fans. I have always been at Inter, my whole life: it takes my breath away and it a source of pride. ”
