Inter Campus
— Jun 10th 2022The Nerazzurri's project's pitches have provided a great deal to the local community
In Brazil, as with many other Inter Campus, the places where children train are spaces derived from existing structures, which have perhaps been abandoned or left uninhabited. Over time they become just like any other part of the community and take on its characteristics.
An example of this is Agua Vermelha, a pitch in Sao Paulo, which is named after the redness of the soil. During rainy season the colour is spread throughout the streets as water flows through, dying the local community in a tinge of vermillion.
The Arena Caveirao, on the other hand, used to be a quarry in Pernambuco, which was turned into a playground. Behind it stands a cemetery where stray passes and shots often end up. The area is surrounded by rather unkempt neighbourhood dwellings.
While these places are different the passion for football is still very much the same.
