— Jun 10th 2022In 2021/22 the Nerazzurri boasted the highest cumulative home attendance in Serie A (854,983) and the highest average attendance (44,999).
A record-breaking campaign is now behind us and potential glory and joy in 2022/23 is just around the corner. Last season Inter fans showed their dedication to their club in what was a fruitful ten months for Simone Inzaghi’s side, winning the Italian Super Cup and the Coppa Italia.
After breaking attendance records in Italy the Nerazzurri’s fans are already looking forward to 2022/23. Season tickets for the next campaign have been available in recent weeks (priority given to ticket holders from the 2019/20 season) meaning fans have been able to confirm their places at the Meazza. A record number of supporters did so on 23 May.
There is numerical proof of the strong bond between Inter and their fans: for the eighth consecutive season more supporters went to watch the Nerazzurri than any other Italian team. This was during a campaign which saw a staggered return of fans to stadiums. Up until October capacity was restricted to 50% before being increased to 75%. For two matchdays in mid-January there was a cap of 5,000 fans permitted in Serie A grounds before capacity limits then rose again: 50% until 18 February, 75% until 31 March, and then unrestricted attendance numbers from 1 April.
In 2021/22 the Nerazzurri boasted the highest cumulative home attendance in Serie A (854,983) and the highest average attendance (44,999). What’s more, San Siro hosted Inter v AS Roma, a match at which 74,947 fans were present, the highest attendance of the season in the division. Inter hosted 27 matches at San Siro in 2021/22 with 1,128,377 fans watching them in total.
These impressive stats are set to be repeated next season: on Saturday 11 June those on the waiting list for 2022/23 season tickets will be able to secure their spot at San Siro for another thrilling campaign in Serie A. Incidentally, there are a record number of fans who signed up to this waiting list. This scheme was launched for the first time by Inter in 2019 which allows all fans who had not managed to secure a season ticket for the 2019/20 season, in which they sold out, to get one at the Meazza for 2022/23.
