MILAN – Inter ended the league season by beating Sampdoria 3-0 at San Siro on Sunday. Andrea Ranocchia, who was on the pitch for the final 17 minutes of the contest, was warmly welcomed by the Nerazzurri fans and, speaking post-match, commented on Inter's end to the season: "In football not everything always goes your way; it's a shame given the work we've done this year but we have to accept it."
He added: "Unfortunately we had a run in the season where we picked up very few points, facing strong teams in very close games; there is a sense of regret over that, but we have to move on and continue to improve.
"I'd like to thank everyone: the fans, who've stuck by me, my teammates, my family and my children. Personally, I am happy and satisfied with everything I have done and given.
"When I arrived at Inter, I was a young boy with lots of hopes and ambitions, as well as a desire to enjoy myself. Now I'm a little older, but the desire to enjoy my football is still there. Now I'll rest a bit and then we'll think about the future."
