On Sunday evening Inter claimed a 2-1 victory away at Udinese. The win sees Simone Inzaghi’s men climb up to 75 points with three games left in the league.
Next up for the Nerazzurri is Empoli this Friday at San Siro, before heading away to Cagliari and then rounding the season off at home to Sampdoria.
Inter have won five of their last six Serie A matches, meaning that since April the Nerazzurri have picked up more points than any other team in the Italian top flight (15), ahead of Udinese (13).
PERISIC 250
Ivan Perisic found the net twice last week, against Bologna and Udinese, and in featuring in Sunday’s fixture the Croat made his 250th appearance Inter (click here to read more). It was the first time since April 2019, when he struck against Frosinone and Roma, that Perisic had scored in consecutive Serie A matches.
Among the current Serie A teams Udinese is Perisic’s joint-favourite opponent for goalscoring. He's found the net five times against them and Fiorentina.
The 33-year-old's goalscoring tally for Inter stands at 52, consisting of 19 right-footed goals, 22 left-footed goals, and 11 headers. His opener against Udinese was another header, his third of the campaign, a campaign record for the Croat. Since mid-March he’s been involved in seven goals, providing five assists and scoring twice himself.
His overall season record stands at seven goals and eight assists.
LAUTARO’S RECORD
While his penalty struck the base of the post Lautaro was on hand to nod home the rebound. In finding the net against Udinese the Argentine recorded his 21st goal of the season in all competitions, equalling a personal best set in 2019/20. It was his 17th in Serie A this season, the same number of times he found the net last time out.
Two out of Lautaro’s last 15 goals have been headers. For that matter, Inter have scored more headed goals (18) than any other team this season in Europe’s top five leagues. Rennes are just behind the Nerazzurri on 17.
DARMIAN AND GAGLIARDINI
Both Matteo Darmian and Roberto Gagliardini made appearance milestones yesterday. The former reached 200 Serie A games while the latter made his 150th appearance in the Italian top flight.
