BOLOGNA – Simone Inzaghi made no attempt to hide his disappointment after Inter failed to make the most of their game in hand against Bologna and move back to the top of the table.
Ivan Perisic's early opener was cancelled out by Marko Arnautovic before Ionut Radu's mistake late on handed the hosts victory despite the Nerazzurri's dominance
“We're gutted to lose this game the way we did,” the coach began.
“Obviously the mood in the camp is great. Radu made a mistake just like I or any other player can make a mistake but when a goalkeeper makes a mistake people notice more.
"This defeat really hurts but we must bounce back instantly. We have another game to play in three days' time, then our last three with the Coppa Italia final in between. We must prepare properly for these last few games although we're no longer masters of our own destiny.
"[Marko] Arnautovic's goal came against the run of play. We were on top at the time having started superbly; our only shortcoming was not getting the second goal. The game was going our way and we could have avoided conceding. We paid for a lack of concentration – something you can't afford when there's so much on the line.
“We played well for 15-20 minutes at the start of the second half but then we got a bit worked up and weren't able to find a route through to goal. Radu's mistake turned it into a completely different game.
“It hurts to lose and it's harder for us now. But we need to keep going, bearing in mind that we're playing catch-up. It was all in our hands and now we're behind.
“We've found ourselves behind other teams before though. All we can do now is win all our remaining games."
