Inter surged into the Coppa Italia final thanks to a 3-0 victory over AC Milan in the second leg of the semi-final tie. Following a goalless first leg in March, Simone Inzaghi’s side were keen to make a fast start, which is just what they did when Matteo Darmian set up Lautaro Martinez on four minutes for a stunning first-time shot on the turn. Milan looked to bounce back through Rafael Leao, whose effort was kept out by Samir Handanovic. Ivan Perisic was also in the thick of things to make a crucial block in the first half.
With 40 minutes on the clock, Inter extended their lead when Joaquin Correa played Lautaro in and the striker lifted the ball over Mike Maignan to put the hosts 2-0 up before the interval. Milan thought they had cut the arrears in the 66th minute when Ismael Bennacer’s shot found the back of the net, but Pierre Kalulu was adjudged to have been in an offside position and interfering with play at the time.
Inter sealed a place in the final on 82 minutes when Arturo Vidal released Marcelo Brozovic down the right and the Croat picked out Robin Gosens to tap the ball home for his first goal for the Nerazzurri.
It ended 3-0 to Inter, with a place secured in the Coppa Italia final in Rome in May.
