Happy birthday, Alessandro!

MILAN – Alessandro Bastoni is celebrating his 23rd birthday today. Born in Casalmaggiore, Cremona on 13 April 1999, the defender is now in his third season at Inter. After joining the club in summer 2019 following a stint with Atalanta which included his Serie A debut and a campaign at Parma, Bastoni immediately established himself in the three-man Inter rearguard, improving so quickly that a national-team call-up soon followed.

The Italian has registered three goals (against Lecce and Parma in his maiden season, and a stunner against Lazio earlier this term) in 112 Inter appearances to date. Bastoni played a key role in the Scudetto-winning squad in 2020/21 as well as the side that claimed Italian Super Cup glory against Juventus in January this year.

The centre-back has 11 senior Italy caps to his name and was part of the squad that won Euro 2020, making one appearance during the tournament.
