TURIN – On arguably the most important evening of the season so far, Inter got back to winning ways and clinched a first away victory against Juventus in almost ten years. Hakan Calhanoglu struck the only goal of the game in Turin from the penalty spot to hand the Nerazzurri all three points in the Serie A Week 31 clash.
“It’s a key step forward,” Simone Inzaghi told DAZN, “because we’re part of the chasing pack and we want to stay up there with Milan and Napoli. We’ve dropped points recently, so we want to try to make them back in the next few games.
“It’s not about pressure because we’re further ahead than I thought and it’s normal for there to be pressure at Inter at all times. I haven’t forgotten what was said in the summer about our path. We haven’t been getting results recently, but we’ve also had some key players out, as other teams have, but there’s always been talk about the wrong formation and other things with us. There’s a long path still ahead of us. This is just one step that takes us closer to Napoli and Milan.”
There’s been no shortage of belief in the work done by the club’s stuff, which the boss stressed in his interview. “I have a two-year contract and there’s already been talk with the club about extending it. I’ve just asked to talk about it at the end of the season. We’re Inter and the last seven months have been blurred by a few draws.
“I feel the club and the fans have so much confidence in me, and there were supporters in Appiano Gentile yesterday to get behind us before we left for Turin.
“We’ve enjoyed ourselves these last seven months and we know how it goes in football, so we just need to focus on constructive criticism.
