For the third year in a row Milan Skriniar has been named as the Slovak Footballer of the Year. In a week in which many fellow Inter players have received awards for their efforts in the 2020/21 season (read about the winners of the Gran Gala del Calcio AIC here), Skriniar has now put his name on this illustrious list.
At a ceremony held by the Slovak Football Association Skriniar was named Footballer of the Year, just as he was in 2019 and 2020.
Since the award was inaugurated in 2007 there have only been three different winners: Marek Hamsik (8 times), Martin Skrtel (4 times) and Milan Skriniar (3 times).
Skriniar expressed his pride as he picked up the award: "It's always great to win and I'd like to thank those who voted for me. This is my third time winning this prize; I have fond memories of the first time as it's always special. We've got a great national team and we're doing good things for Slovak football."
The 27-year-old was also given the FAN AWARD, which is voted for by supporters, who choose their most-loved player of the year.
