The best of the action at San Siro where Dumfries cancelled out Torreira’s opener

MILAN – Inter racked up a second 1-1 draw in a row on Saturday against Fiorentina at San Siro. There was a real intensity to the game, with the Viola looking the more dangerous side in the first half. Samir Handanovic made a couple of crucial saves, while Inter defenders got some key blocks in to keep the score level, while Pietro Terracciano conjured up a brilliant stop to deny Edin Dzeko.

Arturo Vidal and Nicolo Barella went close to breaking the deadlock early in the second half before Lucas Torreira smashed home Nicolas Gonzalez’s cross on 50 minutes. Inter responded swiftly and were level by the 55th minute when Denzel Dumfries headed home Ivan Perisic’s pinpoint cross from the left.

Simone Inzaghi’s side kept pushing and went close as the game became stretched. Alexis Sanchez had a glorious chance on 89 minutes, but his goalward shot was blocked by Cristiano Biraghi, before Jonathan Ikone found himself one-on-one with Handanovic in stoppage time, but the shotstopper made the save to prevent Fiorentina from snatching a late win.
