MILAN - Inter could only come away with a point from their clash against Fiorentina on Saturday. It was Denzel Dumfries who drew the Nerazzurri level with his fourth league goal in an Inter shirt. He was certainly one of the best players out on the pitch at San Siro, never tiring until the final whistle as he put in endless runs, goalscoring opportunities and dangerous deliveries. The Dutch winger spoke to Inter TV about his disappointment to not come away with a victory.
“We didn’t manage to get the win and it’s a real shame. We played very well in the second half, but we just couldn’t get that crucial goal to seal victory. It’s disappointing because we wanted to get three points.”
He was pleased to get on the scoresheet, but it was little consolation for the end result. “I managed to make the most of a wonderful cross from Perisic to get my goal. I’m obviously really happy to have contributed in this way, but I can’t celebrate too much because we didn’t win. Unfortunately, this game was similar to many of our recent ones, where we have created opportunities but failed to capitalise on them. This problem isn’t limited exclusively to the strikers but the whole team. We need to get back to our best.”
It was Inter’s last match before the international break, as Dumfries looked ahead to a tough game in a couple of weeks’ time. “When we come back, we face Juventus straight away. We need to be fresh and put in a quality display, playing as we know how.”
