Happy birthday, Alvaro Recoba!

MILAN – Alvaro Recoba’s sensational goals got football fans all over Italy to their feet to applaud during his time at Inter which began in summer 1997. From his brace on the first day of the season against Brescia to his magical corner on 29 April 2007 against Empoli, the Uruguayan showed his class and put on a show with great consistency.

In his ten years at the club, El Chino scored 72 goals in 261 appearances, many of which are indelibly etched into the minds of Inter fans the world over, such as the strike from the halfway line against Empoli on 25 January 1998 and his left-footed piledriver from outside the box to complete the remarkable comeback against Sampdoria on 9 January 2005.

Then there were his moves, celebrations and trophies as he won the Scudetto, the Coppa Italia and the Super Cup twice, as well as a solitary UEFA Cup.
